A Miami-Dade County, Fla., procurement official told Mobility Payments Wednesday that he expects to get approval in less than two weeks to begin negotiations with the top-ranked vendor, Cubic Transportation Systems, in the competition for a roughly $40 million back-office contract.

Assuming the negotiations are successful, and the county proposes to award the contract to Cubic, it could prompt one or more protests from unsuccessful vendors, Mobility Payments has learned.
