Port Authority Trans-Hudson, also known as PATH, is one of the latest U.S. transit operators planning to replace its fare gates. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns PATH, plans to release a request for proposal to install 318 fare gates on the heavy-rail system connecting Manhattan with neighboring New Jersey cities.
The authority screened vendors with a request for information issued in July 2024, followed by a request for qualifications released in February 2026. A spokesperson for PATH would not confirm when the RFP will be released.
