After Germany-based INIT pulled off a surprising upset in April over long-term incumbent Cubic Transportation Systems for Sydney’s 13-year, AU$615 million (US$423.8 million) account-based ticketing contract, it needed help.
While INIT is believed to have good account-based ticketing, or ABT, technology, it had only a couple of small fare projects under its belt in Australasia and none in Sydney itself. Further, it would be replacing a vendor, Cubic, that was twice its size and had much more experience in the region.
