Transport for New South Wales has declined to say publicly why it chose Germany-based INIT to replace its long-established incumbent vendor, Cubic Transportation Systems. The AU$615 million (US$438.8 million) back office and hardware deal, including 10 years of operations, which INIT won last month, is another major setback for Cubic.

Osmodal assigned a small group of ex-Cubic executives from among its roster of consultants to work on INIT’s proposal for the contract, Mobility Payments has learned. Ironically, all of the former employees had been pushed out of Cubic, one way or another, over the years. Meanwhile, Cubic is said to be unhappy at the involvement of its former employees and sent a letter to Osmodal. (See below.)
